George Fell grew up in the Peak District and now lives in Manchester. He works with his hands making art and making music.

There is a constant interplay between his artistic practices. His work in each discipline informs the other. He enjoys the physicality of both. His sculpture and music are created with the same focus on mastery of technique, characterised by intricate detail and informed by life in the 21st century.

When he left school, George started working with his father, artist Brian Fell, learning specialist metalwork skills and developing his own artistic style, bringing his ideas to life by cutting, hammering, welding and grinding steel.

As an Artist Metalworker he has worked on large scale public sculptures on permanent display around the country, in collaboration with his father, Brian Fell. You can see more examples of their work together at https://brianfell.org.uk

Now based in a metalwork studio at the internationally renowned Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Brian and George regularly work with the exhibiting artists, while also producing their own work both individually and in partnership in response to public and private commissions.

Inspired by the natural world, George uses his range of cold forging metalworking skills and techniques to capture images of animals and birds.

In 2020 his sculpture, “Octopus”, was exhibited at HOME in Manchester in the inaugural Manchester Open exhibition, winning the People’s Choice Award. He was then commissioned by HOME to make the awards for the prize winners of the 2022 show.

Titania, one of a themed series of series of works that he and his father were commissioned to make to mark the opening of the new Shakespeare North Playhouse in Prescott, Liverpool, in 2022, was featured in the Guardian.
